With The Whisky Exchange Whisky Show rapidly approaching, we have some work to do in our London shop to get ready. As such we will be changing our opening hours over the coming week to avoid any banging and crashing while our customers are perusing the shelves.

Time has rolled on a bit. It seems like only yesterday that I was a balding computer programmer, sat at a table in The Whisky Exchange shop in Vinopolis , confronted by 10 excellent whiskies. It was the company’s 10th anniversary tasting, and I was a punter who liked whisky.

Att rökig maltwhisky är populärt i vårt land är ingen hemlighet. Denna typ av whisky ökar även i popularitet i övriga världen och vi ser rökiga utgåvor från fler och fler destillerier. Dagens testobjekt dök upp på våra svenska hyllor ganska nyligen, och det är en whisky från Campbeltown-destilleriet Glen Scotia, som är ett av endast tre destillerier i regionen. Whiskyn är buteljerad vid relativt höga 50% alkoholhalt och levereras i en flaska som är god kandidat till årets fulaste design. Men vad gör väl det, om innehållet är desto bättre?

Ardbeg – Supernova 2014 55%
Den dök upp för första gången år 2009, tätt följd av en efterträdare året efter – Ardbeg Supernova. Den marknadsfördes med pompa och ståt som den rökigaste Ardbeg som någonsin buteljerats, med en fenolhalt på mustiga 100 ppm. Vi har sedan dess sett hur oöppnade buteljer av dessa utgåvor rasat iväg i pris på diverse auktionssidor och forum, och många är de Ardbeg-fans som suktat efter en tredje utgåva av Supernovan.
