Denna dyrgrip lanserades 2013 och är ett årligt, begränsat släpp på 3000 flaskor. Lagrad först på amerikansk ek. Efter detta är ena halvan lagrad på palomino sherry och andra halvan på first fill bourbon, sedan gifts de ihop i bourbontunnor för att till sist slutlagras på portugisiska tawny port-fat.

This exclusive malt was launched as a new part of their core range, and is annually limited to 3000 bottles. Firstly, it’s matured in American oak. Then divided into sweet palomino sherry casks and first fill bourbon barrels. The two are then married in bourbon barrels before a finish in Portuguese tawny port pipes.

Doft
Näsan domineras av mörka frukter/bär, dadlar, hallonsaft.. Men också blåbärstvål. Bakom den maffiga fruktkompotten finns även rostat espressokaffe, mörk chokladtårta, päron, viol och chilli.
Även vid sina nätta 42% så finns det en frisk spritighet som påminner om den skarpheten man kan hitta i tranbärsjuice. Också när man doftar lite längre från glaset tittar det fram saltlakritsremsor.
ENGLISH - NOSE:
The nose is dominated by dark fruits and berries, such as dates, raspberry juice and blueberry-scented soap. Behind the thick fruit basket are still lots of other notes, such as roasted espresso coffee, dark chocolate cake, pears, but also hints of violet and chilli.
Even though the abv is at a meager 42%, this liquid can still deliver an alchoholic "zing" that reminds me of cranberry juice. Also, when sniffing from a distance, salty liquorice-strips start to envelope.

Smak
lika mörk och fyllig som näsan, däremot nästan ännu fruktigare och aningen sirapig. Lugn och väldigt lagom. Blir tyvärr snabbt vattnig efter några sekunder i munnen, så den där regeln om att ha whiskyn i munnen lika många sekunder som dess ålder funkar inte för mig.
ENGLISH - PALATE:
As dark and full as its nose, majbe even fruitier and a little bit syrup-y, both in its mouth feel and taste - a very gentle approach to the tongue. Unfortunately, it tends to get quite diluted after just a couple of seconds, so the rule about having the whisky in your mouth as many seconds as its age does not work for me with this one.

Avslut
Medellång. Här kommer porten fram tydligare än innan som ger upphov till övermogna plommon, bränt socker, läder och sirap. Väldigt bittra toner allmänt. Bitterheten lägger sig dock efter ett tag och lämnar plats åt sherryn.
ENGLISH - FINISH:
Medium-long finish. The port is clearer than before and contributes with overripe plums, burnt sugar, leather and syrup. Quite bitter notes in general. The bitterness settles down after a couple of seconds and leaves room for the sherry to bloom out.

Beskrivning / Sammanfattning
Dalmore.. När de kommer upp i ålder så kan de vara helt fantastiska enligt mig, exempelvis deras vintagesläpp från 2011 (Dalmore 1978).
Den här har enligt mig lite av de negativa tonerna från portlagringen (bittra, övermogna frukter.. ja, nästan till och med unkenhet ibland). Sedan tror jag att denna hade plockat till sig mer poäng ifall alkoholstyrkan var högre.
Sedan om man kollar prislappen på just den här flaskan, så kanske man undrar ifall den är prisvärd (ca 7000 SEK)? Nja..

Dalmore.. My opinion is when they start to reach an old age, some tend to be outstanding. Such as the vintage 1978 released in 2011.
This bottling however has a bit of the negative notes from the port that I sometimes experience (I'm thinking of the bitter, overripe fruits that tend to feel.. almost stale). Also, I would guess that this whisky would’ve collected more points in my book if the abv would be higher.
Finally, if you would check the pricetag on this whisky, you would probably wonder if this is a bang for the buck (€740)? Well..
